Year 2016:

SESUG Conference, Bethesda, MD, October 2016

  • Eight OSU students in the Spears School of Business master’s in business analytics program participated in this conference and presented seven paper/posters. Five of the MSBA students received scholarships for their poster presentations. Sangar Rane, Pallabi Deb, Rajesh Tolety were selected for their individual posters and Vivek Doijoke and Neha Singh were selected for their joint poster as top posters at the conference. They received a scholarship and were honored at the conference.

  • Four OSU students in the Spears School of Business master’s in business analytics program participated in this conference and presented four paper/posters. These four students also won scholarships from the conference: Prashanth Reddy Musuku, Ravishankar Subramanian, Snigdha Gutha and Tejaswi Jha.

  • More than 20 OSU students in the Spears School of Business master’s in business analytics program participated in the poster competition, including best poster award-winning teams of Snigdha Gutha and Anusha Mamillapalli, Jacky Arora and Sapna Bhoir, and Shanmugavel Gnanasekar and Ravishankar Subramanian.

A team of OSU analytics students Sandeep Chittoor, Vignesh Dhanabal, Sharat Dwibhasi and Heramb Joshi­ finished second out of more than 50 student teams who competed in the student symposium.
Goutam Chakraborty, Ralph A. and Peggy A. Brenneman professor of marketing at the OSU Spears School and the director of MS in Business Analytics program as well as the director of Graduate Certificate Programs in Business Data Mining and Marketing Analytics, chaired the academic summit at the conference.

OSU students, faculty and alums at the Conference

  • Two teams of OSU students received honorable mention in the Analytics Shootout. One team comprised of Mostakim Tanjil and Cristian Contreras-Nieto. The other team comprised of. Alex Novotny, Cameron Unterberger, Ganesh Gangarajula, Girish Shirodkar, Hamed Majidi, Kushal Kathed and Woranat Wongdhamma. This is the 9th year in a row OSU teams has placed either in top-3 or received honorable mentions in this tournament.
  • Two posters by OSU students, one by Aditya Sharma and the other by Ram Poudel and Xiang Lynn, were selected for best poster award winners (out of 6 awarded) in the conference.
  • Thirty four posters were presented by OSU students at this conference (more than any other university)

OSU students won the 2nd place (Ravi Kiran Garimella, Li Lin and Edward Wangi) award in the A 2012 data mining shootout.
OSU students won the 3rd place (Pankush Kalgotra, Juan Ma and Anuashka Sharma) award in the analytics shootout.
  • Two teams of OSU students, Ravi Kiran Garimella, Lin Li and Edward Wang as well as Pankush Kalgotra, Juan Ma and Anuashkha Sharma placed in top-3 spots in the Analytics shootout. This is the 8th year in a row OSU teams has placed in top-3 in this tournament.
  • One team of OSU students, Monesh Balla, David Bagwell, Kaustabh Mishra and Randhir Nakhil, was received honorable mention in the Analytics Shootout.
  • Two posters by OSU students (Ramcharan Kakarla and Balamurugan Mohan were awarded as top 6 posters in the conference.
